Creativity Is Not an Assembly Line

We live in a time where everything is measured by quick results: clicks, views, likes, and performance metrics. But creativity cannot be compressed into a manufacturing line. Creating takes time. It requires pauses, failures, and fresh beginnings. In Margarida Atelier, I cannot remember the times that I just wasted material and papers and just got frustrated.

Art, unlike a factory, does not follow rigid schedules or repetitive processes. The creative act is alive, unpredictable, and deeply human.

The Pressure of Constant Productivity

Today, artists and creatives are often expected to produce endlessly, as if art were just another product on the market. This pressure to be “always creating”, share on social media, and show that we are always producing, kills the essence of creativity. When inspiration turns into obligation, the spark that fuels artistic work begins to fade. What should be freedom becomes weight. What should be enjoyable becomes a chore.

The Value of the Creative Process

Creating is not just about the final result, it is about the journey.
That journey includes research, experimentation, sketches that may never be shown, blocks, silence, frustrations, procrastination, and moments of doubt.

It is precisely in this process that the true value of art lies. A work of art is never born ready. it grows slowly, like a seed taking root before becoming a plant. With AI-generated images, this authenticity, the journey of trial, error, and discovery, is lost unfortanly.

Freedom as the Source of Innovation

True innovation comes from freedom, from letting go … not from repetition.
A sketchbook or a canvas is not a mass-production factory. They are spaces for exploration, discovery, and even mistakes.It is within this open space, without external pressure, that authenticity and originality can emerge.

Beyond Numbers and Metrics

Creativity cannot be reduced to numbers, algorithms, or performance charts. It is a human, sensitive, and unique space that deserves to be respected in its own rhythm.

In the end, it’s not about how many works we produce, but about how each one transforms us in the process — and how it makes us, and others, feel.
