Two canvases, one river. Painted side by side on the studio floor — barefoot, brush in hand — Rivers I & II were born together, each one responding to the other as the work moved.
The inspiration was water in motion: the curl of a current, algae bending under the flow, the way a river never moves in a straight line. Blues spiral. Greens settle and drift. Flashes of orange and yellow rise like light hitting the surface.

Nothing is Static
Comes from nature: earth tones, bark, dry leaves — the colours the ground and the trees carry, not invented ones. That's where the idea comes from: nothing is static, but everything has a base.
A tree never stops; the wind moves the leaves, the light changes minute to minute; it's never the same tree twice. But the root stays. That's what I try to paint: the brushstroke never closes a shape; I let it dissolve the way wind draws and undoes a treetop, but underneath there's always a base holding it all together.
The thin lines of colour running through both paintings are that wind passing through. The same shapes reappear across the two canvases, like leaves from the same tree: alike, never identical.

Painted without intention, only gesture, colour, instinct. Born in the wake of a Monet-inspired work, this painting broke free from it: where there was softness, here there is eruption. Kandinsky's concept of "inner necessity", the idea that true art emerges from an impulse that cannot be explained, only felt, guided the hand while the mind stayed silent.
Saudade — a Portuguese word with no direct translation, a longing for something you can't quite name — runs through the work. Not sadness. Not joy. Something in between, moving.

The first breath of the collection. Soft yellows, rose and air. It’s light taken in, before anything turns inward. Painted with the canvas loose on the floor, no frame, the whole body in the gesture.
