Two canvases, one river. Painted side by side on the studio floor — barefoot, brush in hand — Rivers I & II were born together, each one responding to the other as the work moved.

The inspiration was water in motion: the curl of a current, algae bending under the flow, the way a river never moves in a straight line. Blues spiral. Greens settle and drift. Flashes of orange and yellow rise like light hitting the surface.

Colors may vary slightly from screen — photographed under natural light in the studio.

I painted this series while reading Kelly Grovier's "The Art of Color", and it changed everything about how I saw the canvas. Chromatic Garden Studies came out of that obsession with color relationships, inspired by Monet's water gardens in Giverny. I wanted to feel the garden more than paint it, layering golds, tangerines, and crimsons against fields of sage, deep green, and soft blue, letting complementary pairs do the work of light. Each piece is improvised, a conversation between colors, I was falling in love with.

Painted without intention, only gesture, colour, instinct. Born in the wake of a Monet-inspired work, this painting broke free from it: where there was softness, here there is eruption. Kandinsky's concept of "inner necessity", the idea that true art emerges from an impulse that cannot be explained, only felt — guided the hand while the mind stayed silent.

Saudade — a Portuguese word with no direct translation, a longing for something you can't quite name — runs through the work. Not sadness. Not joy. Something in between, moving.

Note: Colors may vary slightly from photos, as each image is captured under natural studio light.

Meadowdream came from a need to paint stillness. Gentle greens and soft blues build slowly across the canvas, layered with small textural details that emerge like grass, light, and air moving together. It is not a literal meadow, it is the feeling of one. The calm of being somewhere unhurried, where colour breathes.

Painted with acrylic and mixed media on cotton canvas, this piece invites the viewer to slow down. It works beautifully in living spaces, bedrooms, or any room that needs a quiet, grounding presence.

Olá, Margarida. Eu não vi o trabalho ao vivo, foi direto para Londres. Uma oferta para minha filha. Ela adorou! Já estão colocados e ficaram perfeitos. Obrigada!

— Rosa Encarnação

No matter the size of the painting the magic and heart that each of Margarida’s pieces has is evident even through the screen but when you have them in your hands you can see so much more behind each stroke and color: stories, songs and lots of love. Buying from Margarida is the gift that keeps on giving. Not the first and definitely not the last

— Monique Sainz

(…) "Assim que o vi, senti-me envolvida. Elevada. Levou-me para o mar sem sair do lugar. Assim que chegou, senti que havia uma parede a chamar por ele." (…)
