Saudade II

€575.00

Painted without intention, only gesture, colour, instinct. Born in the wake of a Monet-inspired work, this painting broke free from it: where there was softness, here there is eruption. Kandinsky’s concept of “inner necessity” guided the hand while the mind stayed silent. That’s the idea that true art emerges from an impulse that cannot be explained, only felt.

Saudade, a Portuguese word with no direct translation, runs through the work. It’s a longing for something you can’t quite name. Not sadness. Not joy. Something in between, moving.
